I received my car back about a month ago but I just finally received the insurance paperwork yesterday. I almost fainted when I saw the cost. Good thing it didn’t go thru my insurance.

Lordy, I had the HEMIWagon’s nose redone and with a little custom work for less than half of that....

If you don’t like high repair costs you shouldn’t have bought an Aston Martin.

Dafuq? Is there gold plating under that black paint? Hard to asses the total damage from one pic but his one looks like paint on bumper cover/new cover + paint, and a grille insert = 1K-1.5K.

can you post the estimate? I’d like to see it as even my trained eye doesn’t see anything structural.

The most expensive part was the active grill which was $688 bucks. one headlight $541, and the bumper cover which I forget how much but was in the $450 range. The rest was just misc bolts & clips ect.
It was about $2000 in parts and materials & the rest was the labor.
I guess when they charge $175/hour it adds up real quick.

what is the small circular thing on the faux grill right next to the foglight?

Blinker fluid fill port.

That is surprising. I’m getting my car back tomorrow after similar (maybe worse as it turned out) damage , but got all new parts even though the insurance resisted. My GTI repair estimate (once adjusted to reflect the new parts) was $2,653 (US), including a radiator mount (broken) and new AC compressor (dented) and all new bumper cover. VW, too.
Maybe your figure is in Canadian dollars? Still.

It’s the block heater plug. rather than having a cord just dangling it’s right there in the front of the bumper.

There was nothing structural at all. It was pretty much all just part replacements.
I don’t have the estimate on me but I’ll post it when I get home.

Silly me forgot about all the sensors tucked in there on newer cars.

Yes Canadian dollars and half the cost was labor because of the astronomical labor charge of $175/hour in most shops here.

Goodness gracious. What year is this bad boy? Why are new parts so expensive? $175 per hour? WOW~

2013 and $175/hour is nothing surprising in ‘Berta.

Ah, okay, so US$3,128 (says google conversion). Still, it looks like you had fewer parts impacted than I did, so that still seems quite high. Since your parts cost is about the same amount as less than mine (US$1,900 for me vs. US$1,500 for you), it does seem to come down to labor costs.

Based on a similar accident years ago I was going to guess 3500. Inflation I guess? Honestly seems pretty reasonable to me. Insurance claim accident repair has to get stuff as close to “back to perfect” as possible. That isn’t cheap. It means expensive OEM parts and trained labor.

I think I need to get $175 per hour that’s what needs to happen. My shop in ontario was like $95.

Sounds about right. Ford body shops wanted a little under $3k just to replace my front bumper cover and other small bits. I did it out of pocket properly for less than $1k. :p
I did yank out the useless grille shutters though.

Fuck me. My part of Virginia is $48 body & paint, $60 frame, and $80 mechanical, and that’s the higher side of what most insurers will pay. Another reason to run north pending election results...

I’ve said it before, but modern bumpers absolutely suck ass. That would have been a $20 repair on my old Cadillac (I believe that’s what it cost when I replaced the rubber rub strip).

that’s because that’s the fascia, not the bumper. the actual bumper is behind that.

New parts are expensive because they’re packed full of electronics and move.

I suppose. I do miss the Cavalier for that. New headlight assembly? $30. New suspension? $500. The most expensive parts for that car by far was the tires.
The mustang shouldn’t be too bad though (he said last wordsingly) 4.6L engine is pretty old so lots of parts available.

If it’s a part that shouldn’t have wires that plug into it but does, it’s going to be expensive. Like magnetic ride stuff, or a bumper.
